Instant Craftification : DIY Bold Drips Washi Tape
Well, this should have been day five of my Week o' Washi, but I was too busy having fun with the very awesome Pam Garrison (and her newly-redesigned blog) last night to finish my post in time. Blush. I guess that means my week will now be one day longer ... it'll be like a leap week. To make up for my extended week, I've also prepared an eighth DIY washi tape to share - and a really fun one at that! Today's tape, however, is a revisit of an old favorite ... a new take on my Faux Watercolor Washi Tape.
DIY Bold Drips Washi Tape
Supplies
- Masking tape
- Waxed paper
- Alcohol inks in assorted colors
- Alcohol ink blending solution
- Scissors
Cut a piece of waxed paper that is approximately 2" longer than you want your washi tape strips to be. Place the curled side of the waxed paper down onto a flat surface to help prevent curling. Cut a strip of masking tape from the roll, and carefully stick it to the waxed paper so there is a gap on all sides. Repeat until your waxed paper is full, leaving only a moderate gap between strips. Hold your waxed paper upright with one hand (so that the tapes are vertical), and place 1-2 drops of alcohol ink at the top edge of each tape. Quickly drip 3-4 drops of the blending solution onto the top edge of each tape, allowing the ink to run down the length of the strips. Lay flat and let dry completely. Repeat the process on each strip with a second color of alcohol ink, then lay flat and allow to dry. Transfer the strips to a fresh sheet of waxed paper to store. I really loved seeing the way that the two distinct colors would blend and transform as the ink dripped ... it's pretty, huh?
