Instant Craftification : Easy Peasy Valentine Cards (with Printables)
I was out shopping for a few crafty goodies last weekend, and I saw a giant display of cute Valentine's Day cards that immediately took me back to my childhood. As a kid, I absolutely LOVED picking out a box of cards (usually featuring my favorite cartoon character of the moment), bringing them home, and then spending hours carefully tearing them apart, writing messages to each of my classmates, and sealing them up in those oh-so-cute little white envelopes. When I set out to plan my Valentine's Day cards for this year, I wanted to recapture that same feeling, but with a look that was a bit more grown up (without being stuffy). These DIY Valentine Cards are so simple to make, and can be personalized in a million different ways. You can choose to use the template with the pre-printed brackets or use your favorite patterned paper to make custom brackets, and you can use pretty much anything shaped like a heart to embellish the center of each card. I just love 'em!
Easy Peasy Valentine Cards with Printables
Supplies
- Medium weight cardstock
- Printable Valentine card template (includes two versions - with brackets or without brackets)
- Hearts (can be crocheted like these, cut from paper or fabric, pre-cut heart-shaped embellishments, or even drawn directly onto the card - whatever floats your boat)
- Patterned paper (optional - used for the cards without the pre-printed brackets)
- Pencil (optional - used for the cards without the pre-printed brackets)
- Scissors
- Glue
Print the template of your choice onto a piece of letter-sized cardstock (8-1/2" x 11"). Use scissors to cut the the cards out. If you are using the card template without the pre-printed brackets, cut the bracket templates out and trace them onto the back of a sheet of patterned paper. Cut the brackets out and glue them onto the cards. Affix the hearts of your choice to the center of the cards, between the brackets. Easy peasy!
Here are a couple of the other variations I came up with:
