Instant Craftification : A Very Bunting Birthday Card
It's been weeks since I've had a card project to share, and that's like three months in "Yup time" (similar to dog years, but without the fleas). But with no less than four birthdays on my calendar over the next three weeks, I figured I'd better get down to business and start making some cards. I had some basic ideas for two of the cards using similar materials and methods, and after an hour or so spent playing around with placements and such, I had two super cute cards. Tonight's Instant Craftification features the first card ... come on back tomorrow night to see an alternate version created with the very same supplies!
A Very Bunting Birthday Card
Supplies
- Kraft cardstock or blank pre-folded card
- Patterned paper
- Neutral-colored string
- Die-cut letters or alphabet stickers (I used my oh-so-awesome Cricut to cut my letters, but you can use whatever you have handy)
- Circle punch (if you don't have one, a steady hand and scissors will do the trick)
- Scissors
- Glue
Begin by punching (or cutting) four circles from your patterned paper. Fold each circle in half to create a crease, then open each circle so that it lays somewhat flat. Cut a piece of string that is slightly wider than your card. Apply a layer of glue to the inside of each circle, then sandwich the string between the two halves as you re-fold and seal them. Repeat until all circles have been applied to the string to create a banner. Allow to dry.
Glue the banner onto the card in the desired location (roughly in the middle). Affix letters reading "Happy" and "Birthday" above and below the banner. Let dry completely, then trim off any excess string. Minimum effort, maximum cute ... now that's my kind of card!
