Instant Craftification : Stacked Stripes Card
Remember that cool DIY washi tape tutorial I shared? Well, now it's time to show what I did with the tape I made! I used a simple, monochromatic strip for this card (made using the same materials and technique), but it could easily be swapped out for one with a little more color if you prefer. I have always had a hard time coming up with handmade card ideas that feel "manly" (or, at least, don't feel "girly"), but I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out. And, to top it off, it took about 15 minutes from start to finish. How awesome is that?
Stacked Stripes Card
Supplies
- Corrugated cardboard sheet cut to the desired size and folded in half (regular cardstock can be substituted)
- Patterned paper in contrasting patterns/colors (approx. five different varieties)
- Letter stickers
- Glue
- DIY washi tape
- Rub-on sentiment
- Paper cutter (very handy, but you can use scissors instead)
Start by cutting strips of patterned paper that are all the same length, but have varying widths. They should be slightly shorter than the size of your finished card. Play around with the placement of the strips on the face of the card until the desired effect is achieved, then glue in place. Allow to dry thoroughly. Apply rub-on sentiment to a torn strip of washi tape, then affix the tape to the front of the card. Finally, attach the letter stickers opposite to the placement of the washi tape. This card can be easily adapted for other occasions ... just change out the sentiment and the color palette for an entirely new look. Now that really was instant, wasn't it?
