Instant Craftification : Spiced Up Jars Tutorial
"Me" time - particularly of the crafty variety - can be hard to come by during the week, so I have to sneak it in when I can. I don't always have the attention span to keep working on a more involved project ... oooh, look at that bird. As I was saying, sometimes I can't find the focus to carry long crafts through multiple sessions, so I like having a few simple projects that I can whip out in 10 or 15 minutes in my arsenal. Enter Instant Craftification - super easy projects that can be churned out in almost no time.
For my debut Instant Craftification project, I gave some glass spice jars a lacy makeover. This one was not only really easy, but it also used supplies that are handy in every craft room. I haven't quite decided what I want to fill my spicy new jars with, but they sure do look purty sitting empty on a shelf!
Spiced Up Jars
Supplies:
- Empty glass spice jar(s)
- Mod Podge (gloss finish)
- Assorted lace/trims
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
Remove the label(s) from your jars by soaking them in some hot water. Once the jars are clean and dry, cut a strip of your trim that is slightly longer than is needed to wrap around the outside of the jar. Apply a layer of Mod Podge to the area where you want to adhere your trim using a paintbrush. While the Mod Podge is still wet, wrap your trim around the jar starting from one end and working toward the other. Cut the excess from the other side of the lace, leaving just enough so that you can slighly overlap the edge that is already adhered. Use your paintbrush to apply an additional layer of Mod Podge over the top of the lace, covering it entirely. You can use your fingers to smooth out any bumps while the Mod Podge is still wet. Allow to dry thoroughly.
See ... wasn't that easy? Instant Craftification! :-)
